Sandpiper
readers can still
provide
input on
the proposed San Dieguito
Lagoon Center, at least
through the first week
of September,
according to Susan
Carter, Park Assistant
Director. Conceptual
site plans including
cross sections, building
designs and floor
plans are posted on
the River Park website
for input through the
end of August but Carter
said they would accept
additional input through
at least the first
week of September.
Del
Mar Council members
Crawford and Mosier
and a number of residents
attended the three-day
design open house
at
the River Park site
in July, walking
the
property, identifying
view corridors and
providing input on
everything
from building design
and exhibit space
to
roof patios and trail
heads. Carter said
that over the weekend
alternative ideas
were narrowed to
one preferred concept
that was refined
even further after
a final stakeholders
steering
committee meeting
in
August.
This
month the architects
will finalize the
plans
based on additional
comments received
online.
Then the River
Park
Joint Powers Agency
and the San Dieguito
River Valley Conservancy
will begin seeking
funds for construction.
Mayor Crawford
said
she was especially
pleased to hear
that
the project
could be built
in
phases
depending on available
funding. “We
want to get started
as soon as possible,” Carter
confirmed.
