City Finance Department Reorganizes

Del Mar's new City Manager, Karen Brust, has restructured the City's Finance Department by eliminating the position of Finance Director and downgrading another accounting position. The unit will now be headed by an "Accounting Manager/City Treasurer". This new position will require a CPA credential and report to the Assistant City Manager. The City Council has approved the change by unanimous consent.

This new accounting orientation to the job is intended to complement Brust's previous experience as a financial management executive. The financial impact is projected to be about $30,000 in savings.
